What is Sports Science?

Sports science is an emerging discipline which applies scientific principles to understand factors associated with sporting performance or health and well-being. These may incorporate areas of physiology, psychology, motor control, bio-mechanics, nutrition, sports technology, anthropometry, kinanthropometry and performance analysis. The correct and timely application of which will improve your health and performance no matter how good or bad it is currently.

Sports Science Services

The sports science services we offer are about taking the valuable lessons learnt in laboratories and transferring those skills to the training and racing environment. in a word, it is about 'specificity'. This means measuring, analysing and preparing for the conditions you will face in your chosen event or race in the most specific way possible. after all, those events we all love to compete in are not held in urban laboratories but in parks, forests lakes and mountains - prepare for your success accordingly.

Training Camps
These camps are intended to improve or test specific components of fitness at specific times in the training cycle. They are also intended to provide an enjoyable means of taking fitness to the next level.

  • The French Alps
    This camp is intended for triathletes and cyclists. The objective is to prepare athletes for events which are heavy on gradient and elevation (ie L’Etape du Tour, La Marmotte, Alpe d’Huez Triathlon, Embrunman). We will analyse climbing technique, efficiency, fluid loss and blood lactate levels at altitude in the field.
     
  • The Austrian Tyrol

    These camps are run in conjunction with the world renowned endurance coach and former professional Ironman triathlete, Mario Huys (www.mariohuys.com)

    • 3 Day swim clinic focussing on technique improvement. Morning sessions are followed by lunch, lectures and then a further swim session.
    • 5 Day swim and cross country skiing camp. Covering all aspects of technique in both disciplines and the essence of base conditioning for high level athletes.  
  • Mallorca Cycling Camp

    This camp is run in conjunction with Guido Eickelbeck, former Team Telekom Professional Cycling Team at Lifestyle Cycling (www.lifestylecycling.net) and SRM powermeters (www.srm.de)

    • Technique and bike-Fit.
    • Power analysis/Critical Power testing.
    • Specific sessions/steady mileage.
